1942 * Lee Majors, US actor, best known for the TV series The Six Million Dollar Man.

1968 The first decimal coins appeared throughout Britain in preparation for replacing the outdated system of pounds, shillings and pence by 1971.

1969 In the US, Sirhan Sirhan was found guilty of the assassination of Robert Kennedy.
